Precautions for centrifuge use

Currently, electric centrifuges are commonly used in laboratories. Electric centrifuges rotate at high speeds, so safety precautions must be taken. Special attention should be paid to preventing the centrifuge from moving during operation due to imbalance or aging of the tube cushion, causing it to fall off the experimental bench, or to prevent accidents caused by broken centrifuge tubes due to vibration (if the lid is not closed), resulting in flying glass fragments. Therefore, the following operating procedures must be followed when using a centrifuge.

How to use a centrifuge

1. The centrifuge must be placed on a solid, stable, level platform or floor, and must not shake. 2. Open the centrifuge sample chamber lid and check for any abnormalities. If there are any abnormalities, eliminate them first. Close the lid and connect the power supply. Set a basic speed and centrifugation time, and turn on the power for a no-load test.

What factors determine the effect of centrifugation?

Centrifugation utilizes the immense centrifugal force generated by the high-speed rotation of a centrifuge rotor to accelerate the sedimentation rate of particles in a liquid, separating substances with different sedimentation coefficients and buoyant densities in the sample. Centrifuge maintenance and upkeep

If a centrifuge has not been used for a long time, a professional should inspect the centrifuge rotor and rotor before using it again. Before each use, repeatedly check whether the rotor chuck and centrifuge cup chuck are aligned, and strictly follow the speed limit of the rotor. Interchanging rotors of different models is prohibited. For temperature-controlled centrifugation (e.g., nucleic acid testing samples need to be centrifuged at 2-8℃), turn on the centrifuge in advance and wait until the centrifuge reaches the required temperature before use.
